Kai Fireheart
Age: AdultGender: FemaleRace: Au Ra, XaelaOccupation: Pugilist/Monk, AdventurerPersonality:
Brave | Curious | Loyal | Honest
Bad with money | Oblivious | Self-sacrificing | Black-and-white moralsWhile she is somewhat serious, she has a sincere enjoyment of cosplay, and some of her favorite ensembles include a princess gown, a bunny suit, and a maid’s uniform.
Backstory:A chocobo-drawn caravan stopped to take a passenger on the side of the road to the city of Ul’Dah, the jewel of Thanalan. The new passenger was an odd-looking young woman with dusty black scales on her forehead, cheeks, and throat, and a dirt-smudged nose. Her facial features were difficult to discern under the lime paint that swirled across her face, hiding skin the color of violets, but her alert green eyes were too striking to miss. She watched everything with palpable interest, peering with curiosity at the twins seated across from her, leaning out of the caravan to look at the chocobos, and responding with expressive gestures (but not words) to the friendly banter of a merchant who shared the twins’ bench.Upon arriving in Ul’Dah, the young woman immediately applied to the Adventurer’s Guild and joined the Pugilists’ Guild. From that day forward, Kai Fireheart blazed her path, unperturbed by her lack of memories prior to boarding the caravan or her inability to speak. She became a member of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, joined the Immortal Flames of her native Ul’Dah, and spent much of her time smiting monsters that ran the gamut from star marmots to the primal Shinryu and thrashing the Garlean Empire.
Belruru Miret-njer
Age: 47Gender: FemaleRace: Viera, RavaOccupation: Paladin, ex-gladiatorPersonality:
Firm | Upstanding | Kind | Protective
Overly serious | Sensitive | Tsundere | No sense of humor
Backstory:“... I am uncertain if they will ever accept her, Ruland. Although, I have been wrong before.” Chorabell, casting a sidelong glance at her husband, adjusted her daughter against her chest. The lop-eared baby huffed but didn’t wake. They were far enough from the open glades of the forest that the light that made it through the canopy was muted. It was further diffused through the soft yellow and green stained glass set in the chamber door and high on the walls.Ruland wrinkled his nose affectionately at Chorabell. “Nonsense. Ten fingers, ten toes, two adorable ears. She’s absolutely perfect. They’ll love her.”She chuckled. “So sure of yourself, and of her. But I cannot find it in myself to be surprised.” Though she was easily the taller of the two, Chorabell rested her forehead against Ruland’s shoulder. “Times are changing. You are proof of that. But the other matriarchs may not be so open to so much change, so fast.”He kissed the root of one of her long ears. She could feel him smiling. “That’s what we’re here for. The company’s lost interest for now, but they’ll be back, and with so few of your tribe living outside of the woods, there’s practically no one to speak for you.”Chorabell compressed her lips into a thin line. “And they won’t care to listen to us if we don’t start making alliances.”Ruland was, for once, unsmiling. “If they make enough noise, they might get the Empire involved again. There’s no way the dastards have given up on conquering the area. They just need an excuse.” He pinched the bridge of his nose for a moment.“...Those are problems for another day. Right now, we must convince the other matriarchs that our kit is not an affront to the Green Word.”
Merlylux Batterbottom
Age: 24Gender: FemaleRace: Roegadyn, HellsguardOccupation: Conjurer / White Mage, CulinarianPersonality:
Empathetic | Understanding | Calm under pressure | Generous
Trusting | Mother hen | Workaholic | Slumbering beast (fear the staff/frying pan)
Backstory:Ama and Mum had been devotedly in love for Merlylux’s entire life, but according to Doubt they hadn’t been so fond of one another initially.“Oh, sure, your mum was half-dead o’ shock when Lady Gulthwaite swung aboard from that blasted freighter. Damn thing was nearly sunk, but the crew was still plenty lively, and mad as hornets besides.” The elezen stroked the scar on his cheek thoughtfully. “Got this one from ‘er boot. She used m’face as a stepping stone.” He seemed more impressed than angry. “‘Course the captain was recovered by then and drew ‘er blunderbuss -- I thought that plenty payback for m’face -- but she just shot one of the freightmen off the rail and shouted at me to weigh anchor.”Merlylux’s pale pink eyebrows shot up. “Ama kicked you in the face?!”Doubt flushed slightly and waved a hand, fumbling for his tankard when he nearly elbowed it off the table. “Not -- exactly? It was more a graze with a sharp heel. At high speed.”Lady Galinda ‘Gully’ Gulthwaite was a society belle at her debut ball for exactly one and a half hours before she climbed out of her bedroom window to attend the grand opening of a nearby museum instead. She left her gown and jewelry in the shrubbery she landed in and donned a pith helmet with an attached mosquito-net veil to hide her identity. She did not want any close-minded meddler to inform her parents of her escape. This was not the first time she had chosen the mysteries of the past over the glamour of the present.By the time she was eighteen, she had left the noble life behind to pursue archaeology full-time. When her parents attempted to stop her, she stole a sloop, was caught in a storm at sea, wrecked on a nearby sandbar, and was rescued by a fisherman that she convinced not to take her home.Years later, she convinced Captain Yenley Batterbottom, who was holding her at scimitar-point, that riches were to be had escorting her from ruin to ruin, lost island to lost island. Yenley later realized -- Gully was nothing but trouble. Unfortunately, by the time she had realized this, she was charmed stupid. They married at sea less than a year after meeting, and a few years afterwards they adopted a bouncing baby girl.Merlylux blinked slowly. “Mum knew Ama’s ideas were all terrible?”Doubt snorted and took a drink from his tankard. “She’s known all along, m’girl.”She dropped her head into her hands. “... Thank Llymlaen they’re finally retired.”“We’ll see how long that lasts,” Doubt muttered into his beer.
Tae Kitamura
Age: 23Gender: FemaleRace: Au Ra, RaenOccupation: Marauder/Warrior, BartenderPersonality:
Laid-back | Friendly | Brave | Smiling Sacrificer
Meddlesome | Defective Self-Preservation Instinct | Overwhelming | Berserker
Backstory:
“Hraaaaaaaagh!” Tae smashed through another boulder, her axe churning up grass and soil. She yanked it out of the small crater it had made in the Swiftperch field. A dodo screeched at the noise and trotted away, its ponderous body bobbling along.“Tae! Quit botherin’ the birds!” Swygskyf hollered from the gate, casting a hand over his eyes to block the glare from the sun.“Sooooorry!” Tae shouted back with a wave, shouldering her axe. “Blame Axe Grandpa back in Limsa! He makes me do this stuff to get stronger!” To be fair, she had just destroyed the only boulder in the area that was large enough to make good training, so she had to move anyway. But Swygskyf had a point; if she bothered the dodos too much they wouldn’t breed, and if they didn’t breed, Lyulf couldn’t have the tame dodo herd he wanted.Swiftperch was a lot livelier than it had been when she arrived early in the season. Lyulf had begun seeding the fields with his father’s ultra-hardy wheat, which promised a harvest even in the nutrient-poor soil. The dodos, in spite of being wild and still having their poison sacs, did not seem to particularly mind being husbanded.Looking out over the sea, Tae smiled to herself. Swiftperch was going the right way. It was an agonizingly slow process, but going was going. It hopefully would recover enough to support a larger population, maybe bring in some refugees from settlements that had been less fortunate. Thanalan was full of encampments that couldn’t become full-fledged settlements; maybe some of those people could come to La Noscea and settle in Swiftperch? She wrinkled her nose. That was a long way off and required a lot more logistical thinking than Tae was really good for. Better to leave it to the wiser folks than try to figure things out herself. She was at least smart enough to figure that out on her own.Ah well. There were things that needed hitting, and people who would give her money to hit them. Folding her arms behind her neck, Tae grinned and trotted off to find more boulders.
Velvet Tsukino
Age: 29Gender: FemaleRace: Viera, Veena/RavaOccupation: Pugilist / Monk, AdventurerPersonality:
Hard-working | Sweet | Courageous | Hidden strength
Crybaby | Indecisive | Skittish | Naive
Backstory:As the chocobo-drawn carriage bobbed along, Velvet turned her hands over in her lap. They were softer hands than her sisters’ and her mother’s hands. Her father’s hands had been rough too, but his calluses were from wielding a bow or lance rather than throwing punches. He was from a Veena tribe whose territory bordered the territory of her mother’s Rava tribe. The two tribes were on distant but relatively cordial terms; that being said, they did not interbreed. At least not until Velvet’s mother and father met.Velvet studied the skin of her knuckles. Of her sisters, she was the one who looked most like their father. Shana, Melody, and Trish shared the deep skin tone of the Rava tribe and easily blended in with the other Rava viera. Velvet could only pass as a Rava in low light, and only at a distance. This didn’t bother her particularly -- she was used to the raised eyebrows and the murmuring. Her father, like all male viera, was expected to return to his home village to find a mate. Her mother had been expected to take a Rava male as her own mate. Instead, they had chosen one another and astonished both tribes. Her ears rested back against her hair as she dug her knuckles into her thighs.None of that mattered here. She did not know if she would ever see her family again. She was far from home and all alone, for the first time in her life. She could not slip into the forest her father ranged to stay with him until the looks and whispers hurt less. (Not that he condoned it in words, but he never sent her home until she was ready to go herself.)Velvet clenched her hands into fists and her knuckles cracked. Even if they weren’t by her side physically, her family’s spirits burned in her heart. She would find her way back home.
Kohime Hime
Age: 25Gender: FemaleRace: Lalafell, DunefolkOccupation: Thaumaturge / Black Mage, Administrator of the Dragon's HorizonPersonality:
Ladylike | Bibliophile | Insightful | Dutiful
Unworldly | Ingénue | Hair-trigger Temper | Caged Bird
Backstory:In the gloom of her bedchambers, Kohime tried to remember what her mother looked like.It was an exercise in futility; she had never seen her mother, only heard of her from her father or from the people of the city that recalled the chieftain's beautiful, headstrong, learned wife, whose soul had taken flight the moment Kohime took her first breath. Her library stood down the hall, a shrine to the chief's lost love, to knowledge, to science. She had loved both dearly and her books were stacked on each surface, marked at the pages by fingers stained with ink that had, moments earlier, soothed the baby kicking in her belly. An undisturbed gilt harp languished in a corner, aching for those fingers that knew its strings and had plucked hundreds of melodies from it. The daughter had no talent for the instrument. It shunned her.The magic lamps of Yrrilend offered a velvet soft yellow glow that bloomed off of the golden harp, catching on a metal pen nib, discarded on a desk spread with thaumaturgical notations. These letters belonged not to the brilliant mother but to the daughter, in whose breast quickened power that no Yrrilendian yet living carried. On the morrow, the daughter would go far away, to shores her mother had never visited, to places strange and wonderful for their strangeness. For the first time since her mother's loss, Kohime's father would be truly alone.Did the thought hurt?

OOC Stuff
I do not ERP! I prefer to fade to black.
I prefer roleplaying with other people that are 18+, just in case we deal with more mature themes.
I do not roleplay anything related to kids getting hurt or that involve non-consensual sex/rape.
I can rp in-game, via Discord, or through Google Docs. I'm very open.
I'm extremely friendly, so if you just wanna talk about stuff, I'd be happy to chat.
